Formulasi Sediaan Masker Clay Ekstrak Etanol Daun Salam (Syzygium Polyanthum (Wight.) Walp) Sebagai Anti Jerawat Dan Uji Aktivitas Antibakteri Terhadap Propionibacterium Acnes

Acne, or acne vulgaris, is a common skin disease that frequently occurs and can be a source of concern among adolescents. One solution for treating acne is the use of facial masks. Clay masks are a type of facial mask that offer several benefits, including the ability to soften the skin and remove sebum from the facial skin. Bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) are plants that possess antibacterial activity due to the presence of bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, and tannins. This study aimed to formulate a clay mask preparation containing ethanol extract of bay leaves as an anti-acne treatment. The research stages included the extraction of bay leaves and formulation of the clay mask preparation containing bay leaf extract. The formulations were prepared at concentrations of 15%, 20%, and 25%. The prepared formulations were evaluated through organoleptic testing, homogeneity testing, stability testing, pH testing, drying time testing, spreadability testing, preference testing, irritation testing, and antibacterial activity testing. The results showed that the ethanol extract of bay leaves could be formulated into an anti-acne clay mask preparation, as it met the requirements of all the tests conducted. The clay masks containing ethanol extract of bay leaves demonstrated antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes, with inhibition zone diameters of 14.33 mm at a concentration of 15%, 17.33 mm at a concentration of 20%, and 18 mm at a concentration of 25%, all categorized as very strong antibacterial activity.
