Fires caused by household negligence remain a major domestic hazard, particularly in densely populated residential areas. This study aimed to analyze household negligence factors associated with fire risk. A quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted on 70 households, examining individual characteristics (age, sex, education, and occupancy density) and negligence behaviors (electrical installation, smoking behavior, gas-stove use, candle/mosquito-coil use, and storage of flammable materials) in relation to fire risk (high/low). Bivariate analysis used Fisher's exact test, while multivariate analysis used Firth's bias-reduced logistic regression owing to the limited number of high-risk events and quasi-complete separation. Bivariate analysis showed that age (p=0.041), smoking behavior (p=0.001), and candle/mosquito-coil use (p=0.011) were significantly associated with fire risk. Multivariate analysis identified smoking behavior as the most dominant factor (aOR=24.03; 95%CI=1.29–449.15; p=0.033). Smoking behavior and unsafe use of candles or mosquito coils were the most influential negligence factors associated with household fire risk. Given the very small number of high-risk events, these findings should be regarded as preliminary and require confirmation using larger field-based samples.
