Penyuluhan Perilaku Hidup Bersih Dan Sehat Dengan Cuci Tangan Pakai Sabun Di Sekolah Dasar Negeri 3 Gedung Air Kota Bandar Lampung

Abstract

Foodborne diseases remain a common public health problem among school-aged children due to inadequate clean and healthy living behaviors, particularly the habit of washing hands with soap (handwashing with soap/HWWS). This condition was also observed among students at SD Negeri 3 Gedung Air, Bandar Lampung City, who were not accustomed to washing their hands with soap before eating or after activities. This community service activity aimed to improve students’ knowledge, skills, and habits in practicing HWWS to reduce the risk of foodborne diseases and support the successful implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG) Program. The activity was conducted through the stages of preparation, implementation, evaluation, reporting, and publication. The activities included interactive health education, pre-tests and post-tests, demonstrations of the six steps of proper handwashing with soap, and hands-on practice by the students under the guidance of the team. The solution implemented was practice-based health education integrated into students’ daily activities and supported by visual educational media such as posters. The results showed an improvement in students’ understanding and skills in performing proper handwashing with soap. This program is expected to foster sustainable clean and healthy living habits within the school environment, thereby reducing the risk of foodborne diseases among school-aged children.
