Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that poses a serious health problem in the community. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between stress levels, promotive efforts, and preventive efforts with the incidence of hypertension at Dandy Dinda Tembung Clinic. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 107 people, with a sample of 84 respondents determined using the Slovin formula. Data were collected through questionnaires and secondary data, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that the majority of respondents had moderate stress levels (59.5%) and stage 1 hypertension (61.9%). Statistical test results showed significant relationships between stress levels and hypertension incidence (p=0.006), promotive efforts (p=0.024), and preventive efforts (p=0.009). The promotive efforts included health education and counseling on hypertension, hypertension risk factors, stress management, healthy lifestyles, and the provision of health information through health workers and mass media. Preventive efforts included adequate rest, stress management, regular physical activity and exercise, limiting salt and seasoning consumption, consuming nutritious food, avoiding alcohol, smoking, and coffee, as well as blood pressure checks and consultation with health workers. The study concludes that stress levels, promotive efforts, and preventive efforts are significantly associated with hypertension incidence.
