Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of a community empowerment program through the utilization of bamboo as road reflectors based on Islamic ecotheology in Gongsol Village. The activity was conducted from 18–21 August 2026 through a participatory empowerment approach involving 20 KKN students and local community members. The implementation stages included observation of road conditions, coordination with relevant parties, preparation of materials, selection and processing of seven bamboo poles, cutting and painting, installation of reflective tape, assembly of reflector units, installation at three road points, and participatory evaluation. Each bamboo reflector section has a length of approximately one meter, resulting in 52 reflector units. Data were collected through direct observation, documentation, and joint evaluation with the community. The results show that the program successfully transformed locally available bamboo into functional road reflectors and installed them at three road points requiring additional visibility at night. The activity also strengthened community participation and mutual cooperation while promoting responsible utilization of local resources through the Islamic ecotheological values of khalifah, amanah, mizan, and maslahah. The total cost of Rp319,540, consisting of Rp234,540 for reflective tape and Rp85,000 for paint, indicates that the innovation can be implemented using relatively simple and economical materials. The program demonstrates the integration of local resource utilization, road visibility improvement, environmental awareness, community participation, and Islamic ecotheological values in rural development.
